Making The Ordinary Extraordinary

Christopher Schanck is an artist and furniture designer that takes a simple chair and turns it into a piece of art. He uses random pieces of metal like industrial foam, steel, and aluminum-foil sheets in his Alufoil series. With these materials, he wraps various pieces of furniture to create one-of-a-kind structures that have been catching the eye of prestigious names in the design world. Schanck has thus far made Alufoil pieces for Dior and Tom Ford boutiques, with his largest piece to date standing tall for all to view at Paris's Almine Rech Gallery.

The Alufoil creations start off as basic metal frames, and are filled in using different materials until the final product is reached. The designer aims to find the unique characteristics in basic elements. This is similar to the design process at Tangram, as we strive to create memorable and unique experiences in all aspects of our projects.
